Aubrey Gordon is undoubtedly breaking glass ceilings. As a best-selling author and co-host of the wildly popular podcast Maintenance Phase, Gordon has found her voice in decoding common wellness fads, educating people on anti-fat bias, and fostering real change for fat justice. You may also know Gordon as Your Fat Friend, a blogging persona she kept anonymous until revealing her identity in 2002 through her debut book, What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat. Since then, Gordon has fully stepped into the role, providing a platform for voices that need to be heard and becoming an inspiration to many.

In the years following the launch of her first book, Gordon has continued to evolve her career as a writer. This past January, she released her second book, “You Just Need to Lose Weight,” and 19 Other Myths About Fat People, which received the esteemed accolade of becoming a New York Times best seller. Yet before Gordon stood at the forefront of creating real change in the wellness community, shattering biases around the anti-fat culture, she spent 12 years as a community organizer, advocating for pro-LGBTQ+ legislation, ultimately proving Gordon is a natural-born leader.

Listen to the latest episode of Second Life to hear how a letter Gordon wrote about anti-fat bias amassed 40,000 reads online in just one week to completely change her life.
